Laverne Cox to be Madame Tussauds’ First Transgender Wax Figure

Move over Kimmy Schmidt, Laverne Cox is proving she's unstoppable.  Laverne has been blazing a trail of history and she is not slowing down yet.  She was the first openly transgender person to be nominated for a Primetime Emmy for acting, the first to make the cover of Time magazine, and now the first ever transgender person to have a wax model at Madame Tussauds.

The “Orange Is The New Black” star will have her life size figure unveiled at the attraction in San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf on June 26, during Pride Weekend. She’ll join the likes of George Clooney and Leonardo DiCaprio in the museum.

“When I think about being who I am, a black trans woman from a working class background raised in Mobile, Alabama, this honor feels even more improbable and extraordinary,” said Cox in a statement. “I hope that this will be a source of inspiration for every one who encounters it to believe that their dreams matter and are possible.”

Congrats Laverne!
